3 am … wide awake
I look around.
… I’m in bed. The Tv has gone to sleep. The screensaver reminds me to ‘Press menu or turn it off.’ Like a billboard the cable box glares 3:04 am. The Router gives off a bright light. The bedroom is bathed in a bluish glow. Some little light is blinking on the other side of the bed. Why am I awake?
Oh yes, the phone just dinged. A WordPress article …
I open my phone… An article about… Sleep…
Seriously? Yes, true story.
The article came at the perfect time.. well, sort of… perhaps the middle of the night wasn’t perfect.
How often does this happen? How many nights do I find myself wide awake? — Too often.
I grab my Kindle to read myself back to sleep.
The article on the phone that night wasn’t the first I’ve read about the importance of sleep, but it was the first time the truth glared at me in article form in the middle of the night.
Perhaps it is time to make some changes.
I need more sleep and I better quality sleep.
