Living Healthier without household chemicals
Condition your leather with coconut oil – it works wonders.
In an effort to move to a healthier lifestyle I have been changing the usual chemical cleaners and personal care products in our home to more natural products. We are getting away from those chemical substances that can harm us.
So… Yesterday I was giving the leather furniture a natural conditioning treatment. Instead of using the usual leather cleaner and conditioner, I used a damp cloth to wipe the furniture down first and then conditioned all leather pieces with coconut oil. Once clean, I applied the oil, let it soak in and buffed it out. I covered the furniture with a sheet for a few hours, just to make sure all the oil had time to soak in. After a few hours I buffed it once more.
It is amazing how well coconut oil worked on our leather. The sofa, chairs and ottoman look amazing. Not only is this better for everyone around, it is cheaper than the chemical stuff too. No fumes, no artificial dyes, no yucky smells… just simple coconut.
Bonus… I used my hands to rub the oil in and had a hand treatment at the same time.
There was only one slight problem… well, it isn’t a bad problem… Our dog apparently LOVES coconut too. So, every two minutes I had to tell him to stop licking the furniture. Luckily coconut is good for dogs too, so no worries there… just a bit weird, right?!
So if you are looking for a great way to spruce up your leather, use coconut.
