It’s so good you’ve got to try it.
A tasty bowl of oatmeal is my husband’s favorite way to start the day.
This recipe is a powerhouse of nutrition and provides an explosion of flavors.

Oatmeal Bowl Recipe
Ingredients for one serving
1 heaping Tbsp Chia Seeds
1 heaping Tbsp Flaxmeal
1/2 cup coconut or almond milk
1 cup water
Pinch salt
4 dates, diced
1/2 cup oatmeal
1/2 cup fresh fruit of your choice (berries, apples, pears, peaches etc.)
1/8 cup chopped walnuts (or other nuts of your choice.)
Directions
This recipe is for one serving. You can easily double, triple, or more.
In your serving bowl mix chia seed, flax meal, and coconut (or almond) milk. Let stand to soak.
In a saucepan bring water, salt, and dates to a slow boil. Add oatmeal, stir, cook 10 minutes over medium heat, keep stirring periodically.
While oatmeal is cooking, wash and drain, fruit. If you have apples, peaches, or pears, wash and cube.
Stir chia-flax-milk mixture. Layer oatmeal mixture on top chia mix, top with fruit and then sprinkle nuts on.
If you wish, add a little more milk and garnish with full-fat coconut cream.
Enjoy your nutritious, delicious breakfast.

Lovely! We probably have oatmeal three times a week in the winter!

I’m working on a post about hot breakfast cereals with little twists. This morning we had cream of buckwheat, which was absolutely delicious. Great on a really cold morning like today.

A little twist makes oatmeal fun again. I make it different every day. I am curious how buckwheat tastes with oatmeal.

Looks great! Love the addition of superfoods and dates. I make oatmeal a lot in the wintertime – a great comfort food. 🙂

I’m glad you like the additions. Have you ever tried it raw? With cool milk it is refreshing, crunchy and retains more nutrients. It’s my favorite way to ear it. Thank you for commenting.

No I hadn’t even thought of trying that but it would also save time, especially if you’re using steel cut. I’ve tried plenty of overnight oat recipes, though, with yogurt and coconut milk and various fruit combos.
